Monaca man dies after falling from Acrisure Stadium escalator at Steelers game

Pittsburgh police are investigating the death of a Monaca man who fell from an escalator inside Acrisure Stadium at Sunday’s game between the Steelers and the New York Jets.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said the incident happened at 4:45 p.m., and paramedics provided the man with medical treatment on scene before he was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

On Monday morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man who died as Dalton Ryan Keane, 27, of Monaca, Beaver County.

“The cause and manner of death, including any toxicology results, will come from the Medical Examiner,” Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Amanda Mueller said in a statement. “The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety will not be commenting further at this time in order to allow the investigations to continue.”

The Pittsburgh police Mobile Crime Unit was dispatched to the stadium at the time of the incient. Detectives with the Violent Crime Unit are investigating.

“We are aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred inside Acrisure Stadium today,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten wrote in a news release from the team. 

“We are working with local authorities and helping their investigation into the matter. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”
