The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted yet another wide receiver for an official pre-draft visit Tuesday. And this one was big — figuratively and literally.

Former Georgia and Texas star Adonai Mitchell stands 6-foot-2, 205 pounds — and he is widely projected as a first-round pick. Mitchell ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds at the NFL combine — sixth-fastest of any player, regardless of position — and is coming off a season in which he led national semifinalist Texas with 11 receiving touchdowns.

Let’s talk about Adonai Mitchell

According to the mock-draft compilation website nflmockdraftdatabase.com, Mitchell is expected to be taken late in the first round.

The Steelers’ first pick in the April 25-27 draft is at No. 20 overall. They are in need of a wide receiver after the trade of Diontae Johnson and release of Allen Robinson.

Mitchell is a former Georgia teammate of current Steelers No. 1 wide receiver George Pickens — a player deemed as Mitchell’s “NFL comparison” by the league’s official website and by ESPN.com.

Also a guest of the Steelers at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Tuesday was Mississippi State defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy. The 6-4, 301-pound Crumedy was a four-year starter in the SEC. According to the school, he ranked fifth among conference defensive linemen in 2023 in QB hurries with 16.

The Steelers are seeking an infusion of youth along their defensive line.

Each team is allotted 30 official draft visits (excluding local prospects).
