Abbey Ellis had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists to lead Purdue to a 71-50 victory over Duquesne on Thursday night, ending the Dukes’ season in the final 16 of the Women’s NIT.

Sophomore Jerni Kiaku led Duquesne with 19 points. Chartiers Valley grad Megan McConnell recorded the 10th double-double of her junior season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Purdue went on an 8-0 run in the second quarter to take a 29-22 halftime lead after the score was tied 11-11 after one quarter.

Kiaku had a steal and a jumper to get Duquesne within six points with 1:26 left in the third quarter, but Purdue pulled away from there. The Dukes shot a season-low 28.1% from the floor.

Duquesne finished its season 21-13, recording its first 20-win season since 2019-20.

Purdue (15-18) will face the winner of Friday’s game between Colgate and Vermont in the round of 8 next week.
