Former Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell was moved to the Baltimore Ravens’ active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against Denver.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens activated running back Le’Veon Bell from the practice squad and put defensive end Derek Wolfe on injured reserve Saturday.

The Ravens play at Denver on Sunday.

Bell was one of three prominent veterans Baltimore brought in to help the backfield after injuries to J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. Latavius Murray and Devonta Freeman already have played for the Ravens, and now Bell is active.

Murray has rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, and Freeman has rushed for 37 yards on five carries.

This marks Bell’s first game since he played in the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC divisional playoff win over the Cleveland Browns last season. He spent the first four weeks of the regular season on the practice squad after being signed by Baltimore on Sept. 7.

Bell spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he became one of the NFL’s best all-around running backs. He rushed for 5,336 yards and 35 touchdowns and caught 312 passes for 2,660 yards and seven touchdowns with the Steelers.

After sitting out 2018 because of a contract dispute with the Steelers, Bell played parts of two seasons with the New York Jets before landing in Kansas City last season.

Baltimore also activated defensive back Kevon Seymour and tackle Andre Smith from the practice squad.

Wolfe has been dealing with back and hip injuries.
