Renovations underway at Pitt's Petersen Events Center
Pitt’s Petersen Events Center is getting a bit of a face-lift, with renovations underway to upgrade seating and the fan experience at the on-campus venue in Oakland.
Enhancements include the addition of 1,608 padded club seats (sections 107-109 and 120-122) and 1,100 new polymer seats on the court level. There also will be upgrades to the Platinum Club and the addition of a new young alumni space.
Pitt also will add to the environmental branding of the facility with updates to the lobby, signage and curtaining system in the upper deck.
The open concourse below the end zone video boards also will be converted to a new club space for fans.
Construction is scheduled to start this month.
“We continue to focus on enhancing our guest experiences through innovative amenities and spaces for our fans,” said Taylor Traversari, Petersen Events Center general manager. “We are thrilled with the result of the upgrades, which will be very noticeable as we welcome fans back into the Petersen Events Center.”
The Pete, a multi-purpose arena which opened in April 2002 as the home of Pitt basketball and several other sports at the university, seats 12,508 for basketball, 9,000 for end stage concerts and 6,000 for lower bowl concerts.
