They may not have gone about it in the most exciting way possible, but the Pittsburgh Riverhounds will head into the USL Championship playoffs on an eight-game unbeaten streak.

Rookie Christian Garner recorded his first pro shutout as the Riverhounds and Detroit City FC played to a scoreless draw Saturday in Michigan.

The Riverhounds (19-5-10) finished the regular season on a 6-0-2 streak. They clinched the Players Shield, given to the team with the best regular season record in the USL Championship, last Saturday. They will begin the playoffs with an Eastern Conference quarterfinal matchup against either Detroit (11-15-8) or Miami at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Highmark Stadium.

The Riverhounds had their best chance to score in the 52nd minute when Danny Griffin took a pass from Marc Ybarra and fired a volley on net, but Detroit keeper Nathan Steinwascher made the stop.

Shots in the game were event at 7-7. The Riverhounds recorded their league-leading 15th shutout of the season.
