Riverhounds lose on the road in Indy
A modest two-match winning streak in USL Championship play came to an end for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Saturday night.
Jack Blake scored in the final seconds of the first half, leading the Indy Eleven to a 1-0 win over the Riverhounds in Indianapolis.
In all competitions, the Riverhounds (4-6-2) have lost four of their last six. It was the first home win for Indy (3-3-5) over the Riverhounds since 2020.
Indy’s goal came after Perrin Barnes slipped while receiving a long pass along the right wing, creating a three-man break in the other direction. Aodhan Quinn fed Blake on the right side of the penalty area, and Blake broke to the middle of the pitch and took a shot that deflected in off Sean Suber.
The Hounds’ best chance to tie came and went when Augi Williams took a cross from Junior Etou and slid a shot just outside the left post.
The Riverhounds will begin a four-game homestand when they host the Tampa Bay Rowdies at 7 p.m. next Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
