Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Angelo Kelly plays against New Mexico United on Saturday.

After suffering through a seven-game road losing streak earlier this season, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds have picked up points in the standings in back-to-back games away from home.

Dane Kelly scored the tying goal with 15 minutes to go and the Riverhounds left Albuquerque with a 1-1 draw in their first-ever meeting with New Mexico United on Saturday night.

The Riverhounds (10-6-4) are tied with Detroit for fourth place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference standings with 34 points. New Mexico (9-3-7) is in third place in the Western Conference.

Considering the quality of their opposition and how the game started, the Riverhounds had to be at least somewhat pleased with the draw.

They found themselves in a 1-0 hole before the game was a minute old.

Former Riverhounds striker Neco Brett intercepted a pass and made a quick diagonal pass to spring Jerome Kiesewetter up the right wing. His shot hit the twine 51 seconds into the match.

The Riverhounds found the equalizer in the 75th minute.

Russell Cicerone took a pass from Angelo Kelly and quickly redirected it to a streaking Kelly, who ended a 10-match scoring drought to make it 1-1.

Cicerone converted the rebound of a Danny Griffin shot in the 21st minute, but the play was ruled offside.

The Riverhounds, who ended their seven-game road skid with a 3-0 win at New York Red Bulls II on July 1, will stay on the road for a meeting with Hartford Athletic at 7 p.m. next Saturday.
