Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC coach Bob Lilley has added a former Pitt player to his roster.

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds signed defender Robby Dambrot to a one-year contract Wednesday, securing a player who logged more than 2,000 minutes last year for divisional opponent Loudoun United FC.

Dambrot, the son of Duquesne men’s basketball coach Keith Dambrot, spent the past three seasons with Loudoun.

Dambrot (6-foot-2) began his college career at Akron, helping the Zips reach the 2015 NCAA semifinals before moving to Pitt as a graduate transfer in 2017. A year later, he was a member of the first Pitt team to win a match in the ACC Tournament.

Dambrot complements the Riverhounds’ experienced back line, featuring returning players Mekeil Williams, Jelani Peters, Dani Rovira and Shane Wiedtand and newcomer Jesse Williams. The Riverhounds will open the preseason Jan. 31.

“We are excited to get Robby back to Pittsburgh with his ties to the area,” Riverhounds coach Bob Lilley said. “He is a left-sided defender who can get forward with pace and quality, and he has the size and ability to defend in our system.”
