Pittsburgh Riverhounds midfielder Charles Ahl is surrounded by a pair of Miami FC defenders Saturday.

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds missed a golden opportunity to gain ground in the USL Championship Eastern Conference standings, giving up three second-half goals to last-place Miami FC and losing 3-1 Saturday night.

The Riverhounds (10-10-7) remain in sixth place, one point behind Hartford Athletic and two behind Loudoun United. The result snapped a 16-game winless streak (0-11-5) for Miami FC (6-15-6). It ended a two-game winning streak for the Hounds.

The Hounds took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when a deflected Luke Biasi cross from the right wing found Charles Ahl at the top-left corner of the penalty area and he fired a rocket inside the far post.

The Hounds began to crumble in the 48th minute when Tobias Zarate chested down a long pass, held up for a moment and fired in a left-footed shot.

In the 58th minute, some sloppy defending left Zarate alone in the penalty area for his second goal of the game.

In the 82nd minute, Allen Gavilanes took a long diagonal pass from Gerald Diaz and finished to make it 3-1.

The Riverhounds return home to face Indy Eleven at 7 p.m. Saturday at Highmark Stadium.
