Robert Morris men's basketball team drops Horizon League opener
Rasheem Dunn and Justin Winston combined for 33 points in Robert Morris’ Horizon League opener. But the rest of the Colonials combined for only 25, and Green Bay pulled away in the second half for a 70-58 victory Thursday night.
The score was tied 51-51 with just under 10 minutes remaining, but the host Phoenix went on a 10-5 run, and the Colonials (0-6, 0-1) couldn’t catch up.
Green Bay (2-5, 1-0) shot 53.8% from the floor in the second half and 50% for the game. Emmanuel Ansong led the way by going 11 of 15 from the floor for a game-high 23 points.
The Phoenix also took advantage of Robert Morris’ turnovers, getting 18 points. RMU got only seven points off Green Bay turnovers.
Dunn scored 17 points, including converting 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. Winston was 6 of 10 from the field, scoring 16 points. The Colonials shot 7 of 13 (53.8%) from the 3-point line, but from 2-point range, they shot just 18 of 47 (38.3%).
Robert Morris next plays at Milwaukee on Saturday at noon.
