Robert Morris will add 2014 RMU Hall of Fame inductee Tony Lee into its Ring of Honor prior to the men’s basketball team’s game against Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 12.
Lee accumulated 1,489 points, 751 rebounds and 487 assists at Robert Morris from 2004-08. The four-year letter winner ranks ninth all-time in points and fourth in assists. He also is tied for second in rebounds.
He was named the 2008 Northeast Conference Player of the Year when RMU finished 26-8 and won the NEC regular-season title at 16-2.
Lee averaged 13.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists in 2007-08, setting a single-season school record for assists with 217.
The RMU Ring of Honor was created in 2013. To be eligible, a former student-athlete who played basketball with the Colonials must meet at least four of the following five criteria:
• RMU Athletic Hall of Fame Member
• RMU career statistical leader in any category a minimum of five years
• Named conference player of the year at least once
• Earned all-conference first team honors at least once
• Member of conference regular season or tournament championship team that advanced to a national postseason tournament
Lee is the third member of the men’s basketball program to be inducted, joining Chipper Harris (2014) and Myron Walker (2017). Sugeiry Monsac was the first women’s player to join the elite group also in 2017.
