On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced they will wear yet another alternate jersey.
The Robo Pen jersey is primarily black and will include a logo the team wore throughout the 1990s and early 2000s that was parochially referred to as the “pigeon logo.” The emblem is an upside-down triangle with a bird’s head protruding from the top.
The Penguins will debut the jersey Nov. 15 when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs. They also will wear them on the road Nov. 25 and during home games Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and 20, and Jan. 10 and 24.

The original Streamlined Penguin was introduced for the 1992-93 season, with the Penguin and triangle resembling the original jersey logo.
This marks the sixth alternate jersey the team has donned since 2017.
Jersey sales are typically a major contributor to the NHL’s overall hockey-related revenues which are directly tied to the salary cap.
