Longtime Saint Vincent College baseball coach Mick Janosko reached another milestone Wednesday with his 400th victory.

Janosko, who began coaching the Bearcats in 1998, helped guide the team to a 6-1 victory over Geneva in Latrobe.

Junior pitcher Fred Gillespie tossed a three-hitter and senior Bobby Finn tripled and drove in three runs for the Bearcats (16-10, 9-5 PAC). Gillespie had five strikeouts and one walk.

Sophomore Joe Rudzinski went 2 for 2 with two RBIs.

Saint Vincent has produced seven, 20-win seasons under Janosko, including a 27-17 record in 2003. In 2004, the Bearcats went 26-20 and won the American Mideast Conference North Division before reaching the NAIA Region IX finals, falling one game short of the NAIA World Series.

SVC has made the PAC Tournament three times with Janosko leading the way. In 2018, they upset top-seeded Washington & Jefferson in the first round.

Janosko, a 1986 East Allegheny graduate, also coached at Point Park from 1992-94. He also played there, and at at Marietta.
