Saint Vincent freshman quarterback Brady Walker is done for the season with a knee injury, Bearcats coach Aaron Smetanka confirmed.

Walker was injured Sept. 28 in a home game against Carnegie Mellon, a 49-14 loss for Saint Vincent (0-4).

Walker, who started his college career at West Virginia Wesleyan before making the move to Saint Vincent, has completed 55 of 103 attempts with six touchdowns and five interceptions.

The Gateway graduate was 12 of 32 for 178 yards and two scores in the CMU loss.

“Brady has been a leader and hard worker from the first day of training camp,” Smetanka said. “Since he was told he will be out for the season, he hasn’t changed a bit. He has been at every meeting and practice just as he would be if he was still starting.”

Smetanka started senior Michael Navarro last week in a 48-10 loss to Geneva, but he will go with junior Lorenzo Cota under center this Saturday at Thiel.

Walker is the second-leading passer in WPIAL history with 8,816 yards.
