After winning their third Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship in five years, the Saint Vincent women’s basketball team gathered in the Cary Center lounge Monday afternoon to watch the NCAA Division III selection show.

The next order of business awaits the Bearcats (22-4), who learned they will face Cortland (N.Y.) in the opener.

The teams will tip at 4 p.m. Friday at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.

Cortland (23-4) will make its third straight tournament appearance.

The Bearcats (22-4) will make their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament, their first since 2019.

SVC defeated Chatham, 68-52, before a sellout crowd at Carey Center Saturday to claim conference supremacy.

Junior guard Emily Cavacini was named PAC Tournament MVP after scoring 22 points, 14 in the second half.

Senior Ella Marconi added 12 points and rebounds, and junior Lizzie Bender came off the bench to score 12.

Nyia Longford scored 14 of her 17 points in the second half as Cortland defeated New Paltz, 57-52, to win the State University of New York Athletic Conference title.

The Dragons like to shoot 3-pointers. They have taken exactly 600 3s (198 makes), and have four players with 25 or more made 3s.

Friday’s winner will play the winner of Trinity and Notre Dame (Md.) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
