Saint Louis and VCU shared the Atlantic 10 men’s basketball regular season title and earned the top two seeds for the A10 Conference Tournament next week at PPG Paints Arena.
The Billikens (27-4) and Rams (24-7) each finished 15-3 in conference play and earned a bye into the quarterfinals, along with No. 3-seeded St. Joseph’s (21-10) and No. 4 Dayton (21-10).
Tournament play begins with first round games Wednesday when No. 12 La Salle (9-22) plays No. 13 St. Bonaventure (15-16) at 11:30 a.m., and No. 11 Richmond (15-16) plays No. 14 Loyola Chicago (8-23) at 2 p.m.
Thursday’s second round will start at 11:30 a.m. when No. 8 Fordham (17-14) plays No. 9 George Washington (17-14), followed at 2 p.m. by No. 5 George Mason (23-8) against the winner of La Salle and St. Bonaventure. No. 7 Duquesne (17-14) will host No. 10 Rhode Island (16-15) at 5 p.m., followed by No. 6 Davidson (19-12) vs. the winner of Richmond and Loyola Chicago at 7:30.
Quarterfinal games will be played at 11:30 a.m., and 2, 5 and 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The semifinals are at 1 and 3:30 p.m. March 14, and the championship will be at 1 p.m. March 15.
The winning team earns an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
The first three days of the tournament will be broadcast on USA Network and CNBC. CBS Sports Network will carry the semifinals, and the championship will air on CBS.
