Seton Hill baseball advances to NCAA Division II World Series

The Seton Hill baseball team is bound for Cary, N.C.

The Griffins earned a trip to the NCAA Division II World Series in Cary after winning the Atlantic Regional championship Sunday afternoon.

Seton Hill defeated Millersville (30-15) for the second consecutive day, this time with an 8-5 triumph, to seal the regional title in Charleston, W.Va.

The Griffins (38-6) scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game 4-4. They then tallied four runs in the fifth to take control.

Caiden Wood (5-1) allowed one unearned run and had five strikeouts in three innings of relief and earned the win and Jared Kollar notched the save after striking out three batters in 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Derek Orndorff was 3 for 4 with a home run, and Jordan Fiedor had three hits, including a homer and five RBIs.

The Griffins now await the seeding for the NCAA World Series, which will begin Saturday in Cary, N.C.

This is the second time Seton Hill has qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament. The first time was in 2014. The Griffins also qualified for the NAIA tournament in 2006.
