Seton Hill baseball drops pair to West Chester in regional finals

The Seton Hill baseball team fell one win short of advancing to the Super Regional, dropping a pair of games to West Chester in the Atlantic Regional final Saturday.

The Griffins (33-19-1) lost 5-4 in the first game and 9-6 in 11 innings in the second game.

In the opener, Seton Hill took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Jack Oberdorf, an RBI double by Neal McDermott and an RBI single by Vincenzo Rauso.

West Chester (32-12) won on a bases-loaded double by Sean Szestowicki in the fifth.

In the second game, Seton Hill took a 2-1 lead on a two-run homer by Max Mandler in the first and a 6-5 advantage on a grand slam by McDermott in the fifth.

West Chester scored one run in the ninth to tie it and three in the 11th to win it. In the 11th, the first seven West Chester batters reached base.

McDermott ended up going 12 for 19 with 10 RBIs in four games at the Regional tournament.
