Seton Hill will have to rally in the loser’s bracket to make a run at its first NCAA softball title.

The Griffins were blanked, 4-0, by Auburn-Montgomery in the first game of the Division II World Series on Thursday night in Denver.

Freshman pitcher Avery Dickerson held Seton Hill (41-11) to three hits, all singles.

Sophomore Shelby Newsome had two RBIs, and sophomore Margaret Morgan doubled for Auburn-Montgomery (49-11).

Seton Hill used two pitchers. Morgan Ryan (Hempfield) started and worked three innings before she was replaced by Lauren Dellett.

Ryan struck out five but gave up six hits.

No player had more than one hit in the game.

Seton Hill returns to action at 8:30 p.m. (EST) Friday against Adelphi (47-14), from Garden City, N.Y., in the double-elimination tournament.
