The problem with elimination games is that someone has to get eliminated.

That someone Saturday was Seton Hill, which fell to Cal State Dominguez Hills, 9-6, for its second loss in the double-elimination NCAA Division II Softball World Series in Denver.

The Atlantic Regional champion Griffins end a season that was as thrilling as it was historic with a record of 42-12.

They had a 6-3 lead after a five-run fourth inning, but Cal State Dominguez (43-22) erupted for five of its own runs in the sixth to seize control and stay alive in the tournament.

A three-run double to left by Chenoa Au was the back-breaker for Seton Hill as it put the Toros ahead, 8-6.

Au, Raquel Jaime,Claudia Valencia, Laiya Lopez, Alex Davis, and Kaylee Hull each had two hits for the Toros.

Davis drove in two runs.

Jaime and Amara Labongog also doubled.

Jenna Osikowicz and Morgan Toal each had two hits, including a double each, while Nichole McClendon, Brooklyn Fukushima also had two hits for the Griffins.

Toal and Fukushima both had two RBIs.

Alyssa Olague came on in relief to earn the win in the circle and improve to 22-13.

Morgan Ryan pitched 2.1 innings and gave up eight hits for Seton Hill before she was replaced by Lauren Dellett (5-3), who took the loss.

The teams combined for 26 hits, 15 from Cal State Dominguez Hills.
