Seton Hill wrestling coach Brian Tucker is finishing up his recruiting class for 2020, and it features 11 wrestlers, including eight from WPIAL schools.
Heading the list are Greensburg Salem’s John Meyers and Ian Ewing, Canon-McMillan’s Jimmy Baxter, Latrobe’s Ricky Armstrong, Thomas Jefferson’s Brendan Finnerty and Elizabeth Forward’s Etha Cain.
“The fun part of this group is that they’re all looking forward to be part of the Seton Hill family,” Tucker said. “They all want to be part of the tradition we’re building here.
“We added depth in the upper weights and I’m sure will be fighting for starting jobs.”
Tucker said his roster is approaching 40.
Seton Hill is graduating senior Billy Bowlen, a three-year NCAA qualifier and four-year starter, and he expects Meyers, who placed third in the state at 215 pounds in Class AAA, Bethel Park’s Riley O’Mara, Keystone Oaks’ Nick Whittington and Cain will be battling for that job.
Finnerty and Cain were PIAA qualifiers and Susquehannock’s Colby Romjue finished eighth in Class AAA at 160.
The others in the class are Gavin Manning of Woodridge, Del., and Logan Davidson of Lampeter-Strasburg, which is located near Lancaster. Manning was a four-time state qualifier in Delaware.
