Seton Hill redshirt senior Nick Stotler had quite a game Saturday at Mercyhurst.

The Plum graduate, who transferred from Lock Haven, drove in six runs and hit three home runs to lead Seton Hill to a 22-1 victory in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division game. They were his third, fourth and fifth home runs of the season and gave him 24 in his career.

Stotler is the third Griffins player to hit three home runs in a game. Matt Malacane had three against Malone on April 6, 2016, when Seton Hill launched nine in the game. They also had seven against Davis & Elkins in 2015.

Nick Sell, the school’s all-time leading home-run hitter with 28, had two three-home run games: versus Gannon in 2015 and Bluefield in ’13.

Seton Hill hit six home runs, all by former WPIAL players. The others were by Tommy Pellis (Greensburg Central Catholic/Penn), Ryan Grieco (Franklin Regional) and Isaiah DiAndreth (Hempfield).

The Griffins (18-14, 9-5) swept the doubleheader, winning Game 2, 4-1, to tie Mercyhurst (18-7, 9-5) for third place in the division behind Gannon (21-9, 11-3) and Cal (Pa.) (26-8, 12-4).

The teams will complete their four-game series Monday at Seton Hill after Sunday’s doubleheader was rained out.
