A pair of lawsuits over the sale of the Pittsburgh Penguins to Fenway Sports Group have been settled according to a statement from a law firm that represented the plaintiff.

In mid-December of 2021, Wildfire Productions, L.P. — which was part of the Team Lemieux LLC group that previously owned the franchise — sued to block the sale of the Penguins to Fenway Sports Group after it had alleged its consent rights have been ignored in the transaction.

Wildfire Productions L.P. brought suits against Team Lemieux LLC in Delaware and Fenway Sports Group in Western Pennsylvania.

Fenway Sports Group formally took over the Penguins on Dec. 31, 2021.

In a statement, Daniel Shapira, counsel for Wildfire Productions, L.P. said an agreement was reached “with Team Lemieux LLC, Fenway Sports Group, and others to resolve all disputes between them. As part of the settlement, the NHL has approved the sale of Wildfire’s limited partner interest, and Wildfire no longer owns any interest in the Penguins. Wildfire wishes FSG and the Penguins the best of luck going forward.”

A Penguins spokesperson declined comment.

Terms of the settlement were not revealed.
