Penguins captain Sidney Crosby donates 100,000 meals to Pittsburgh food bank
Penguins forward Sidney Crosby donated 100,000 meals today to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. According to a press release from the team, this donation is equal to 120,000 pounds of food distributed through the organization’s 11-county service area in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The meals will be distributed through multiple food assistance programs, including pantries, drive-up distributions and home delivery service.
“I saw the people of Pittsburgh coming together to help one another, and I wanted to be a part of that,” Crosby said in a statement. “The Food Bank and its staff have done an amazing job providing for so many people, and I am proud to partner with them during this challenging time.”
