Four points (two goals, two assists) by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby helped Canada rout Slovakia, 7-0, in a preliminary round game in the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Championship tournament at Avicii Arena in Stockholm on Saturday.

Opening the contest as Canada’s second-line center, Crosby recorded four shots and was 5 for 10 (50.0%) on faceoffs while logging 16:29 of ice time on 18 shifts.

Canada’s next game is against Finland on Monday, 2:20 p.m.


Utah Mammoth forward Logan Cooley, a native of West Mifflin, had a goal and an assist for the United States which defeated Germany, 6-3, at the Jyske Bank Boxen arena in Herning, Denmark.

Opening play as the top-line center, Cooley recorded one shot and was 8 for 16 (50.0%) on faceoffs while logging 19:29 of ice time on 18 shifts.
