Sidney Crosby scores in overtime as Penguins finish preseason with win
The Penguins concluded the preseason with a 5-4 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena on Friday.
They finished the exhibition slate with a 5-1-1 record.
Penguins forward Sidney Crosby scored two goals, including the winning score 9 seconds into the overtime period.
Penguins forward Philip Tomasino opened the scoring with this second goal of the preseason at 8:59 of the first period. He was followed by Penguins defenseman Harrison Brunicke who collected his first goal at 13:53 of the second period.
In the third period, forwards Rickard Rakell (third of the preseason at the 6:45 mark) and Crosby (second of the preseason at 13:54) struck on the power play for the hosts.
Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry started the contest and unofficially made 16 saves on 19 shots over 30:17 of ice time.
Sergei Murashov replaced Jarry midway through the contest as scheduled. He stopped 12 of 13 shots during 29:52 of time on ice, boosting his record to 2-0-1.
The Penguins open the regular season with a road contest against the New York Rangers on Tuesday.
