Steelers meet with small-school cornerback Denmark
The Pittsburgh Steelers dipped into the small-school ranks Tuesday for their penultimate predraft visit when they hosted defensive back Stephen Denmark, who played for Division II national champion Valdosta State in 2018.
Denmark is a 6-foot-3, 212-pound cornerback with limited experience in the secondary. He arrived at Valdosta State as a wide receiver, but he was switched to defense for two seasons.
He had seven interceptions and impressed scouts by running a 4.46 40 at Valdosta State’s pro day. Denmark also recorded a 43-inch vertical leap.
The Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints also have hosted Denmark for a predraft visit. He is considered a late-round pick or priority free agent.
The Steelers have conducted 29 of their official 30 visits, a total that doesn’t include three local visitors.
Of the 32 players the Steelers have hosted, they have met with seven linebackers, seven running backs, six cornerbacks, four wide receivers, three safeties, three tight ends, one defensive end and one offensive lineman.
