After missing what would have been his 64th start in less than three seasons Saturday, Duquesne junior point guard Sincere Carry is planning to transfer, a source told the Tribune-Review.
Carry has been one of the team’s most important players for the past two seasons, plus the first five games of 2020-21. He has done the bulk of the ball-handling and is second all-time at Duquesne in assists (319) for a player through his sophomore year. This season, he had 21 assists in five games.
While switching shooting guard Tavian Dunn-Martin to the point, coach Keith Dambrot also must replace Carry’s scoring. Carry averaged 12.1 and 12.2 points in his freshman and sophomore seasons, dropping to nine through five games this season.
For his career, he has a 42% shooting percentage, including 82 3-pointers.
After Duquesne’s 48-45 victory against Fordham on Saturday, Dambrot said Carry “obviously wasn’t happy” this season. Carry is the second veteran guard in the past week to reveal plans to transfer from Duquesne. Lamar Jordan Jr., who left the team after four games, also said he wants to transfer.
