Iowa junior Spencer Lee went to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil as a workout partner with Daniel Dennis.

Now Lee may be heading back to the Olympics as a participant.

The Murrysville native and Franklin Regional grad won the 57 kg (125 pounds) U.S. Senior National Freestyle Championship on Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas by defeating Nathan Tomasello, 8-2.

The win qualified Lee for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials on April 4-5 at Penn State.

Lee defeated Darian Cruz, 10-0, in the semifinals and Cornell’s Vitali Arujau, 14-4, in the quarterfinals.

The two-time NCAA Division I champion and three-time PIAA champion was dominant the entire weekend. He went 5-0.
