Shown here blocking during a game last month against the Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Mason Cole (No. 61) returned to practice Friday and could be on track to play in Monday’s upcoming game despite a foot injury.

Mason Cole has been forced to leave games this season because of injury, he’s missed practice time this season because of injury and he’s been spotted wearing a walking boot on an injured foot at earlier points this season.

But Cole has not missed a game this season. That trend appears on its way to continuing after the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting center returned to practice Friday.

Five days after playing less than one half of the Steelers’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, Cole on Friday was listed as a limited participant in Friday’s practice on the league-mandated official injury report after he did not practice Thursday.

“They pay you to be on the field, not in locker room or on sidelines,” Cole said. “It’s frustrating (missing time). It’s never what you’re trying to do, but when it happens you’re trying everything you can to get back.

“That’s the plan for Monday night.”

The Steelers play at the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football.

J.C. Hassenauer replaced Cole against the Bengals and would start in his place against the Colts if Cole could not play.

Cole also missed parts of games against the Bengals (Sept. 11) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Oct. 16) because of injury.
