Steelers 2020 training camp preview: Breaking down special teams
9 K Chris Boswell, 6-2, 185
If you take away his disastrous 2018, Boswell has been among the most accurate and consistent kickers in the NFL since the Steelers signed him in 2015. Whatever the issues that caused his 12 missed kicks two years ago seemed to disappear last year.
4 P Jordan Berry, 6-5, 195
Berry’s tenure with the Steelers has endured five seasons and counting. He has survived criticism for his coach after struggles, almost-annual camp competition and even in-season tryouts. His job is again, in theory, up for grabs again in camp. Can he fend off Corliss Waitman?
8 P Corliss Waitman, 6-2, 210
A strong-legged lefty, Waitman might have the most pure leg talent of any punter the Steelers have brought in to push Berry. He had to sit out last season, though, after the NCAA denied a transfer waiver.
57 LS Kameron Canaday, 6-4, 245
Canaday has served three seasons as the Steelers long snapper since beating out the rare draft-pick snapper during the 2017 camp. He signed a two-year deal in the spring that included a significant bonus, so the Steelers must be pleased with his work.
46 LS/OLB Christian Kuntz, 6-1, 227
Unlike last camp, when the Chartiers Valley and Duquesne alumnus was concentrating on defense, this year it seems as if Kuntz is more of a snapper. He performed those duties for the XFL’s Dallas Renegades in the spring.
