The Pittsburgh Steelers open 2021 training camp Thursday. Here’s a look at each of the specialists on the roster.

SPECIALISTS

9 CHRIS BOSWELL · 6-2 · 185

Boswell’s poor 2018 appears to have been the aberration, as his production the past two seasons (48 for 51 on field goals, 62 of 66 on extra points) is more in line with what earned him a long-term contract in 2018.

16 SAM SLOMAN · 5-8 · 205

Sloman was signed earlier this month as an extra camp leg and an alternative in case Boswell falters. Highly regarded enough that he was drafted last year, Sloman ended up kicking in eight games for two teams in 2020.

4 JORDAN BERRY · 6-5 · 195

The Steelers punter for 98 of the Steelers’ 103 games since 2015, Berry faces his biggest challenge yet in holding the gig after the drafting of Pressley Harvin III in April.

6 PRESSLEY HARVIN III · 6-0 · 255

Built like a linebacker and with a leg strong enough to match, that the Steelers invested a draft pick in Harvin shows how much they like him. It’s probably fair to call Harvin the favorite to be the punter in Week 1.

57 KAMERON CANADAY · 6-4 · 245

Canaday is moving up the list of longest-tenured players on the Steelers roster. The long snapper beat out a draft pick (Colin Holba) in 2017 and has fended off all challenges since.

46 CHRISTIAN KUNTZ · 6-1 · 227

The alumnus of Chartiers Valley and Duquesne has been with the Steelers off and on during the preseason and on practice squads dating to 2019. Also an outside linebacker, snapping is Kuntz’s ticket to the roster.
