Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers lets go of a “Hail Mary” throw on the last play of the game last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Monday, 311-pound Broderick Jones jokingly said of the 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers, “I might tackle him again.”

Not, apparently, if Rodgers gets to Jones first.

“I told him I’m getting him next,” Rodgers said, playfully, after Pittsburgh Steelers practice Wednesday. “He better watch his back.”

Rodgers was speaking publicly for the first time since the Steelers’ most recent game, a loss Oct. 16 in Cincinnati in which Jones (the Steelers starting left tackle) celebrated a late go-ahead touchdown by bear-hugging his unsuspecting quarterback (Rodgers) from behind, collapsing on top of him onto the ground.

Rodgers’ initial angry reaction — he threw his arms out toward Jones in disgust — went viral on social media. But as time passed — and with Rodgers uninjured — everyone in the Steelers locker room was having a laugh about the ordeal.

Rodgers included.

Rogers brought up the incident himself when he was discussing the lack of sacks he’s endured.

“The only tackle I (endured) the other night was Broderick,” Rodgers deadpanned.

“ ‘Brod’ is always the first one to come find me after a play,” Rodgers said. “…He’s coming and dapping me up. What you don’t see in the video is he comes over to me, and he’s shaking me and shaking me. Like I texted him, ‘I love your energy. I love everything you’re about. But also, I’m 41. You can’t be out there tackling me like that.’

“I love Brod, we had couple laughs about it.”

Big arm

Measured as the longest thrown ball during an NFL game over the past eight seasons, Rodgers’ Hail Mary toss as time expired against the Bengals showed that even at 41 he has enough arm strength to launch a ball almost 70 yards.

Rodgers on Wednesday said that toss fell short (figuratively) of his 2015 successful Hail Mary while playing for the Green Bay Packers that produced a shocking win at the Detroit Lions.

“Ball came off good,” he said of last week’s toss. “Felt like was trying to get to my spot. Best throw of my life was 2015 Hail Mary. Although it didn’t go as far, it went way the (heck) higher. Almost hit the rafter at Ford field.

“I thought we had a chance (in Cincinnati). We need to be a little tighter in some of those end-of-game situations. I’m trying to throw the ball 2 yards deep in the end zone on that play and we weren’t all in the right spot at the right time. We have to have everyone on the same page in those crunch-time situations. You might only get them 1-2 times a season, and you have to be perfect.”
