The Pittsburgh Steelers got a special teams boost for Sunday’s game at the Washington Commanders with the activation of inside linebacker Tyler Matakevich and wide receiver Ben Skowronek.

Matakevich, a nine-year veteran, has been out since Sept. 15 with a hamstring injury and was placed on injured reserve two days later. He returned to practice Oct. 24 but did not play against the New York Giants.

Skowronek appeared in the first two regular-season games but suffered a shoulder injury and had been on injured reserve since Sept. 18. He returned to practice Wednesday.

To make room on the active roster, the Steelers released safety Terrell Edmunds and running back Jonathan Ward.
