Shown during a game earlier this season, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud was activated off the NFL’s covid-19 list Wednesday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers activated receiver Ray-Ray McCloud off the NFL’s covid-19 list Wednesday but added reserve offensive lineman Joe Haeg to it.

McCloud spent eight days on the covid list, missing this past Sunday’s loss at the Cincinnati Bengals. In recent games, McCloud was serving as a No. 3 WR after the season-ending injury to JuJu Smith-Schuster. McCloud also handles the Steelers’ punt and kick return duties.

A veteran signed over the offseason, Haeg has made one start but has appeared on offense in five games this season. He’s played tackle and guard. But with Zach Banner’s activation off the injured reserve list last month, Haeg is no longer the primary backup at any position.

The Steelers do not announce if a player was added to the covid list because of a positive test or via contract tracing, but if Haeg is vaccinated it would be the former and he could return to the team only after negative tests on consecutive days in which he was asymptomatic.
