The Pittsburgh Steelers are moving closer to completing their offensive coaching staff, agreeing to a deal with former New York Jets assistant Zach Azzanni as wide receivers coach, according to a source.

The Steelers also are hiring former Los Angeles Chargers assistant Tom Arth as quarterbacks coach, a move that will shift Mike Sullivan’s role with the organization if he stays.

Azzanni, 47, has coached wide receivers at the NFL level for the past seven seasons. He spent one year in Chicago, five in Denver and the 2023 season in New York. He replaces Frisman Jackson, whose contract was not renewed after two years as wide receivers coach.

Arth, 42, spent the past two seasons as the passing game specialist for the Chargers. He has head coaching experience on the college level with stops at John Carroll, Chattanooga and Akron.

Sullivan, 57, spent the past three seasons coaching the Steelers quarterbacks, bridging the gap from Ben Roethlisberger to Kenny Pickett. He served as the play-caller on game days after offensive coordinator Matt Canada was fired in November.
