Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Calvin Bundage (33) participates in organized team activities Thursday June 10, 2021 at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

After a 48-hour reprieve off the roster, Calvin Bundage was back in time for the start of Pittsburgh Steelers training camp.

The rookie linebacker from Oklahoma State was re-signed Thursday in a transaction that was announced 30 minutes before the start of the first practice session at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side.

Bundage takes the roster spot vacated by the surprise retirement announcement by veteran linebacker Vince Williams on Wednesday. Bundage had been released Tuesday when the Steelers announced the signing of veteran edge rusher Melvin Ingram.

Bundage was considered a prospect at inside and outside linebacker when the Steelers signed him after the draft ended. At 6-foot-2, 221 pounds, he could be undersized but Bundage had seven sacks last season in college.

Bundage missed the 2019 season because of a back injury.

The Steelers are thin at both linebacker spots.
