Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell converts one of his six successful field goal attempts during Sunday’s win against the Atlanta Falcons. Boswell was named AFC special teams player of the week for his efforts.

Accounting for all of his team’s points in a victory was enough to earn Chris Boswell an NFL weekly honor.

Boswell was named AFC special teams player of the week Wednesday, three days after he went 6 for 6 on field-goal attempts for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 18-10 season-opening win at the Atlanta Falcons.

Boswell made kicks from 57, 51, 44, 56, 40 and 25 yards, becoming the first Steelers kicker to make three field goals of 50 or more yards in a game. Including also scoring all of the Steelers’ points during a January 2017 playoff win in Kansas City, Sunday was the third time over Boswell’s 10-year career he’s had six field goals in a game.

Boswell also had his first career punt — filling in to boot a 43-yarder in the fourth quarter after Cameron Johnston suffered a major knee injury.

The AFC weekly honor was Boswell’s third but first since Week 13 of 2017. He also won in Week 6 of 2015 and additionally was AFC special teams player of the month in December/January 2015.
