Steelers place kicker Sam Sloman misses a field goal attempt against the Cowboys in the second quarter during the Hall of Fame Game Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

Kicker Sam Sloman, who missed an extra point and field goal in two preseason games, was among five players cut from the Pittsburgh Steelers roster on Tuesday.

The Steelers had to get to the 85-player limit by 4 p.m. Also cut were wide receiver Isaiah McKoy, tackle Brandon Walton, defensive tackle Abdullah Anderson and cornerback Stephen Denmark.

Signed to a contract July 1 to give the Steelers a second kicker in camp, Sloman made 2 of 3 field-goal attempts and 3 of 4 extra-point tries combined against the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

Sloman, who kicked for the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams last season, made a kick from 48 yards against Dallas in the Hall of Fame Game, but he also missed a 49-yarder. He kicked a 22-yard field goal in his only try against Philadelphia.

Anderson had seven games of NFL experience with Chicago and Minnesota. Walton was on the Steelers practice squad last year. Denmark signed a futures contract with the Steelers in January, and McKoy was an undrafted free agent out of Kent State.

The next reduction is Aug. 24, when the Steelers must cut the roster to 80 players.
