Steelers’ Devlin Hodges reflects on ‘wild’ year, doesn’t duck need for improvement
It wasn’t until teammate James Conner urged him to stop and consider the big picture of what transpired during his 2019 that quarterback Devlin Hodges took the time to fully appreciate all he’d been through and what all he’d accomplished.
“It’s been wild,” Hodges said on the day after the Pittsburgh Steelers season ended. “It’s been wild – but at the same time, it’s been fun. Something to move on from and something to build off of, and I look forward to working on my craft and getting better.”
“It is tough,” Devlin Hodges said after the #Steelers’ season ended with a 28-10 loss to the Ravens. “But at the same time, I really enjoyed the experience.” https://t.co/HxcgCnNw8w

Hodges went undrafted out of FCS Samford and made the Steelers off a tryout. He was part of the final cuts at the end of training camp but brought back to the practice squad 10 days later and promoted to the active roster a week after that.
“Duck” would go on to start six games and win three – but the results and production regressed as his first season of action in the NFL went on.
Hodges said he will head back home to Kimberly, Ala., and take a short break from all things football before vowing to improve heading into his second NFL season.
“I have some people back home that I train with some, but at the end of the day, I’m not one of those guys that goes to some of those fancy places and is all over social media about it,” Hodges said. “I know what I need to work on, I know my craft and what I need to work on, and I just have to go out there and do it.”
