Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson keeps his eyes on the ball during a training-camp practice at Heinz Field last month. Johnson has a foot injury and did not practice Thursday, four days prior to the Steelers’ season opener.

The first official injury report of the Pittsburgh Steelers season has been released. It’s short on names but not on potential impact.

Two offensive starters, receiver Diontae Johnson and guard David DeCastro, did not practice Thursday. While DeCastro’s absence was expected, Johnson’s came as a surprise. Johnson, who led the team in receiving last season as a rookie, has a foot injury.

DeCastro has a knee injury that is expected to keep him out of Monday night’s game against the New York Giants.

Johnson appeared in all 16 games last season but had offseason surgery to address a groin injury he suffered during Week 2. Johnson also missed much of last season’s offseason program because of a lower-body ailment.

Under coach Mike Tomlin, typically the last practice of the week is the only one that is relevant in regards to a player’s availability for the game. The Steelers are scheduled to practice Friday and Saturday at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
