Steelers DL Larry Ogunjobi, 49ers TE George Kittle questionable to play in season opener
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi did not fully participate in any practices this week and was officially deemed questionable to play in Sunday’s regular-season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
Ogunjobi has been listed on the league-mandated injury report as dealing with a foot ailment that has hindered him for much of the past month dating back to training camp. Ogunjobi, who was limited at practice all week, is entering his second season with the Steelers and first since signing a three-year, $28.75 million contract with them in March.
The Steelers’ other primary starting defensive tackle, Cameron Heyward, was cleared to play Sunday after he practiced fully Friday following what was termed a stomach injury.
While Heyward and Ogunjobi were the lone players listed on the Steelers’ injury report all week, the 49ers had 13 players who were affected throughout their preparations for the game. The only two for which doubt remains about their status for Sunday’s game are tight end George Kittle (groin) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (heel). Each of the two starting-caliber players is listed as questionable after practicing on a limited basis Friday.
Two days after agreeing to a contract that made him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history, San Francisco edge defender Nick Bosa was a full participant at practice Friday. He will play against the Steelers.
