Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Donte Moncrief, who joined the team this year after one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but started his career with the Indianapolis Colts, posted a note of support to Andrew Luck.

Luck announced his retirement from the NFL Saturday night following a Colts and Chicago Bears preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy. Luck said his many injuries finally took its toll.

“I’m in pain, I’m still in pain. It’s been four years of this pain, rehab cycle,” Luck said. “It’s a myriad of issues — calf strain, posterior ankle impingement, high ankle sprain. Part of my journey going forward will be figuring out how to feel better.”

After the news, Moncrief posted a short note on Twitter (his didn’t mention Luck by name, but referred to his jersey number), “Stay up 12.. one of the best to do it.. all love from me big guy..”

Moncrief and Luck were teammates for four seasons in Indianapolis.

The wide receiver and his current quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, may finally get a chance to see if they are in sync in a game setting. Both are set to play Sunday night against the Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.
