Steelers' exec Omar Khan interviews for Houston Texans GM vacancy
Omar Khan, the Pittsburgh Steelers vice president of football and business administration, interviewed Monday for the vacant Houston Texans general manager position.
The Texans announced the interview on their Twitter account.
Khan, 43, has worked for the Steelers since 2001, and he has been responsible for the team’s contract negotiations and salary cap management.
Khan has held his current title since 2016.
The Texans have been without a full-time general manager since coach/GM Bill O’Brien was fired on Oct. 5. The organization began interviews in December and have interviewed or requested interviews of seven candidates, including Khan.
Khan is believed to be a candidate for the Steelers’ GM job once Kevin Colbert retires. Colbert has been working on a year-to-year basis with his contract expiring after the NFL Draft.
In the past decade, Khan interviewed for GM vacancies with four franchises: Seattle Seahawks (2010), St. Louis Rams (2012), New York Jets (2013) and Miami Dolphins (2014).
