Three days after Troy Polamalu announced a covid diagnosis, former teammate and Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis said he also has tested positive.

On his Twitter account Monday, Bettis wrote that he has mild symptoms and is isolating at home. Bettis said he has been vaccinated.

In the second of a two-part tweet, Bettis encouraged people to “continue to wear masks, practice social distancing and get vaccinated. We are not in the clear and need to continue to do our part to keep one another safe.”

Bettis did not disclose whether he will be able to attend the Hall of Fame ceremonies this weekend. Polamalu is being enshrined Saturday as part of the 2020 centennial class. The 2021 class will be enshrined Sunday.

Polamalu announced Friday that he tested positive. Pro Football Hall of Fame president and CEO David Baker said in a statement that organizers are working with Polamalu the ensure he is enshrined “the way he should be – and that’s mindful of others in the centennial class, fans and everyone else in attendance.”

Bettis, who ranks eighth in NFL history with 13,662 rushing yards, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2015.
