Wide receiver DK Metcalf sat out Pittsburgh Steelers practice Wednesday, three days after suffering an ankle injury during a loss at the Chicago Bears.
Coach Mike Tomlin on Tuesday indicated Metcalf’s ailment likely would not prevent him from playing in Sunday’s home game against the Buffalo Bills.
In a similar category, as expressed by Tomlin on Tuesday, were cornerback Joey Porter Jr., defensive tackle Cameron Heyward and receiver Ben Skowronek. Porter, who suffered a hip injury against the Bears, practiced Wednesday but according to the league-mandated injury report was a mere limited participant.
Heyward (ankle) was limited, but Skowronek (shoulder) sat out.
Outside linebacker Alex Highsmith was limited. Highsmith, who has missed the past two games because of a pectoral injury, has not yet made it through a full practice for three weeks.
Tomlin had already announced that starting left tackle Broderick Jones (neck) and starting defensive tackle Derrick Harmon (knee) would sit out against the Bills.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not practice but said he would do so Thursday and Friday as he prepares to play despite a broken left wrist that caused him to miss the game in Chicago.
