Vince Williams hasn’t missed many games in his seven-year NFL career, so few that he can count them on one hand.

The Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker was “just mad and uncomfortable” about being forced to sit out the past two games against San Francisco and Cincinnati with a hamstring injury.

“It’s extremely frustrating because you want to contribute, especially when you’re used to contributing,” said Williams, who has missed four games with injury and one as an inactive in his career. “It’s always weird to me, not being involved. … It was temporary misery, but you have to deal with it. It was pretty hard, mostly during the losses.”

Williams’ misery ended Wednesday, when he was cleared to return to practice as a full participant. He said everything “felt normal,” and he hopes to be ready for the AFC North game against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at Heinz Field.

“I just want to have my availability be as high as can be,” Williams said, “so if my team calls on me and they need me, I’ll be ready to perform.”
