The Pittsburgh Steelers’ search for their next general manager has led them to interviewing three candidates from outside the organization.

The team announced Friday that interviews were conducted this week with Ryan Cowden of the Tennessee Titans, Ed Dodds of the Indianapolis Colts and JoJo Wooden of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Kevin Colbert, who has been with the Steelers since 2000, will remain in his GM role until after the NFL Draft, team president Art Rooney II said last week.

Cowden is the Titans vice president of player personnel. He is in his sixth season with Tennessee and oversees all aspects of the franchise’s scouting efforts. He previously spent 16 years with the Carolina Panthers.

Dodds is the Colts vice president of player personnel and assistant general manager. He has spent the past five years with Indianapolis after working in the personnel department for the Seattle Seahawks.

Wooden has been with the Chargers since 2013 and is in charge of the organization’s pro and college scouting departments. He also has 16 years of front-office experience with the New York Jets.

When he announced Colbert will take on a reduced role after the NFL Draft, Rooney II said he already had interviewed internal candidates Omar Khan and Brandon Hunt. Khan is the team’s vice president of football and business administration. Hunt is the team’s pro scouting coordinator.
