Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett is sacked by Houston Texans defensive end Jerry Hughes during this past Sunday’s game. Pickett later suffered a knee injury that forced him out of the game, but he is back to practicing fully and is expected to play in the Steelers’ next game.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett on Wednesday firmly declared that he would be “good to go” for Sunday’s game. On Thursday, he backed that up during practice.

Pickett was a full participant, according to the league-mandated injury report. Pickett had suffered a bone bruise during this past Sunday’s loss at the Houston Texans, and his status even for practice was in doubt as late as Wednesday morning. But at this point — assuming there are no setbacks — Pickett will start Sunday’s home game against the Baltimore Ravens.

A prominent player whose status for that game suddenly is in question is outside linebacker Alex Highsmith. Highsmith was a new addition to the injury report, and he did not practice because of a previously unknown groin injury.

Unlike recent years, the Steelers are believed to have strong depth behind their stellar starters at outside linebacker, T.J. Watt and Highsmith: veteran Markus Golden and rookie Nick Herbig.

Other changes in the injury report include upgrades for defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal and inside linebacker Cole Holcomb. Leal, who is in NFL concussion protocol, was limited in practice. Holcomb (back) was a full participant a day after being limited.

Starting right guard James Daniels (groin), punter Pressley Harvin III (hamstring), tight end Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) and left tackle Dan Moore (knee) did not practice. Moore already has been ruled out, and it is expected Freiermuth will not play against the Ravens.

Nate Herbig could be in line to make his second consecutive start in Daniels’ stead, and Brad Wing, likewise, could serve as the Steelers’ punter for a second straight game if Harvin is not cleared.
